Are dogs REALLY allergic to Chocolate?
So, here's the big answer:
Dogs are technically allergic to chocolate, but it depends on the type of dog, and chocolate. Some dogs would be completely fine if they snarfed down a whole chocolate bar! Others would likely face seizures and possible death.
Why would some dogs even be allergic to chocolate in the first place, though? Well, it really depends on the dose of chocolate. Chocolate contains two things that are toxic to dogs: a thing called theobromine and caffeine, which are basically identical, and belong to a group of chemicals called methylxanthines.
I know it sounds complicated, but basically for dogs chocolate = toxic chemicals.
Sometimes it is fine if your dog eats some chocolate, and sometimes even a bunch of chocolate! But if it is pregnant, young or has some sort of health problems, keep away!!
In general, it is definitely not recommended to feed your dog chocolate, (because who wants to take the risk of having their dog die because of their favorite sweet?) but if they accidentally happen to gobble up a loose chocolate chip or something, don't lose your head about it!

Fascinating. TIL!
